Made from walnut, this small keepsake box has a nice picture jasper inlaid in the lid. The jasper can be seen from inside the lid as well. The jasper comes from the McDermitt Caldera on the Oregon and Nevada border, and is a variant of “Caldera Paint Jasper”. This jasper was formed from volcanic activity that occured 14.5 million years ago when ash and other volcanic material deposited over a moat inside the rim of the caldera.
