About
Success for me is about uncovering and creating beauty—for myself and others. My venture is to do all this while honoring nature’s elegance and traditional craft.
Guided by these principles, I gather, cut, and polish my own stone. I do my best to use stone from the PNW, but I will occasionally cheat here. I harvest and dry my own wood, mostly from neighborhood trees. When I need to source materials, I partner with local miners and sawyers who share my values. I research and use best-known practices in my work.
My woodworking kindled as a rowdy teenager, banging out speaker cabinets for guitars and spinning drumsticks on my father’s lathe. Three decades later, my craft and tools have sharpened, yet the thrill of turning raw material into something beautiful never dulls.
My father and a few mentors taught me woodworking—how to use tools, respect the wood, and work with care. I want to pass those skills and that appreciation on to my son Jack and the next generation.
